Immersive information seeking–A scoping review of information seeking in virtual reality environments

Recently, virtual reality (VR) technology has become more widespread. Humans increasingly interact with information in VR, and a detailed look into those activities is warranted. Thus, scoping literature review (PRISMA-ScR) conducted. It overviews all relevant about information-seeking behaviour focusing on existing models theories. Out of 536 publications, 37 qualify for this review. Eight publications show an understanding related to theories from science. Pressingly, no relate models, frameworks or general seeking VR. This VR-related cognitive behavioural human factors based research gap. Those include immersion presence, affordances, embodiment, load, error, flow engagement. The concluded explorative framework future that constructed Marchionini’s process model as baseline conjunction the discussed factors.
